Host-Plasmodium interactions: One step closer to malaria vaccines
Prof. Dr. Cevayir Çoban is the head of of the Division of Malaria Immunology at the Institute of Medical Science, The University of Tokyo. She also leads the Division of Infection Immunology (Human Immune-Profiling Team) at the same institution. Prof. Dr. Cevayir Çoban received the Women Immunologist Award from the Japanese Society of Immunology in 2017. Her research focuses on immunology, infectious diseases, and host-pathogen interactions, with a particular emphasis on malaria, innate immunity, inflammation, and adaptive immune responses. She has extensively studied the role of macrophages, immune signaling pathways, and vaccine-induced immunity in combating infectious diseases.
Her work has contributed to understanding immune mechanisms in malaria, leishmaniasis, and other infections, as well as identifying potential therapeutic targets. As a leading expert in her field, Prof. Çoban continues to explore new strategies for disease prevention and immunotherapy, making significant contributions to global health and infectious disease research.
