Inborn errors of immunity research in Türkiye: Results from a specialized research center “Can Sucak Lab”

Dr. Baran Erman is an Associate Professor at Hacettepe University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medical Biology. He completed his undergraduate studies in Biology and later earned his Ph.D. in Immunology from the same institution. He is also the head of the Sucak Lab, which focuses on elucidating the role of immune checkpoints and metabolic pathways in regulating immune responses and primary immune deficiencies.

The lab investigates how metabolic changes in immune cells influence immune tolerance and autoimmunity, with a focus on primary immune deficiencies. Their goal is to identify new therapeutic strategies for autoimmune diseases and immune deficiencies. His ongoing work bridges basic immunological research with clinical applications, ultimately aiming to improve treatments for immune-related diseases and primary immune deficiencies.
